denotation and connotation

Denotation.

In this print advert, there is a young boy. Symbolic or non-verbal codes can be identified: the young boys facial expression. Typography is also conveyed in bold white on top of  a colourless background " Dig toilets not graves". I can also see the brand logo which suggests they're in need for donations.

Connotations.

Narrative codes of not having the facilities for basic necessities suggest that the water aid company is symbolic to the people who do not have access to toilets.

The written verbal code of typography is important as the colour of the logo " Dig toilets not graves" is eye catching than the rest of print advert. In order to, bring attention to the situation.

Analysis.

The producers have used a young boy as the main focus of the advert. The producers have done this to allow the consumers to feel more sympathetic towards the young children who don't have access to toilets.
