MY STATEMENT OF INTENT

 "The Disenchanted" is a new TV fantasy drama which will appear on the streaming service Netflix part of their original series. A show that subverts stereotypes by featuring 3 black 15-year-old girls, Aliya, Huda and Ifrah. This narrative choice challenges the lack of diversity in the BAME community of the fantasy genre, offering a inclusive perspective to the 232 million subscribers on Netflix. The storyline begins in a park as Ifrah and Huda enjoy a day out (equilibrium). However, Ifrah out of boredom decides to Challenge Huda to enter the 'Forest of Secrets' without going insane, in reality a black figure awaits Huda from 'The Other World' (disequilibrium). As entering the forest the protagonist a Unknown figure fills Huda's mind with hallucinations leaving her confused . Whilst Ifrah waits anxiously she becomes worried and decides to call upon Aliya for help. This narrative disruption introduces an element of escapism and diversion (Blumler and Katz), leaving both Aliya and the audience in suspense. The use of different cinematic shots, such as close up shots to convey danger and emphasize Aliya's fear, adding a thrilling dimension to the storyline.

The two-minute sequence at the beginning of Season 1, establish the show's fantasy genre and create an immediate connection between Huda and the audience. As Huda, a middle-class 15-year-old female, standing helplessly awaiting her destined fate, the audience is taken on a visceral journey. The cliff-hanger ending of the sequence generates physical thrill and suspense, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats. Importantly, Aliya's journey challenges traditional narratives by showcasing a female protagonist navigating challenges without the help of a male rescuer. "The Disenchanted" promises to be breaking barriers and subverting expectations in the fantastical genre, while simultaneously offering a rich and diverse narrative.

                                  Statement of intent  I plan to make a 60 second fantasy TV drama scene called 'The Chase'. My fantasy drama consists of a chase between 2 characters, a faceless character who plans to taunt the helpless victim a 15-year old  school girl . The scene is set in a isolated  unnamed forest/field  area I plan to film when its cloudy to set the scene of enigma and to emphasise the plot a chase. It will start of as a harmless walk past a forest trying to make her ways back home.  She then begins to here a weird sound coming from the forest, her curiosity gets the best of her and she reluctantly walks closer to seek discovery. She then enters deeper into the forest and a dark figure is seen and the chase begins. The girl will be dressed in casually clothing and the chase will take place in a walking trail in the beginning but then shifts into a forest.
