Media assessment learner response.

 1) Write feedback. .WW: A fair attempt at your first assessment. Some ability to apply denotation and connotation to media texts e.g Beyonce Heat advert. .EBI: Not reading the question, focus carefully- highlight key words to help you. Not enough detail, attempt every question. SCORE: 11/30 :( 2) Read the mark scheme for this assessment carefully. Write down the mark you achieved for each question: Q1: 1/1 MARK. Q2: 1/1 MARK Q3: 5/12 MARKS Q4: 1/2 MARKS Q5:3/6 MARKS Q6: NOT ATTEMPTED. 3) Identify one of your strongest questions. Why did you do better on this question? Use the mark scheme to help you with this. .My strongest question was question 1 and 2 as they were common knowledge that i learnt during lessons. 4) Identify one of your weakest question. Why did you score lower on this question? Use the mark scheme to help you with this. . The question i struggled on the most was question 5 as i found it difficult analyse the Water Aid advert.

Reception theory(unfinished)

1) What is the preferred reading of a media text? The preferred or dominant reading of a media text is what the producers intend to imply. This is the message or ideology belief the producers want the audience to be influenced by. 2) What is the oppositional reading of a media text? A oppositional reading of a media text is when the consumers takes a different approach or views the media text in a uncommon way . This could be down to whether the audience is a passive or active audience. harry may want to set a violent persona and fight back the teenagers heroic/unrealistic expectations/

Camera movement and editing.

close up shot: The close up shot at 0:30, focuses on the girls face and  is used to isolate her and show her reaction of the statement before hand. Another close up shot is used at 1:11 by zooming in onto the woman’s panicked face this sets a sense of urgency. Two shots : The shot at 1:38, emphasises the panic as they try come up with a plan. This is because it focuses on more than one persons facial expression and sets more tension as it shows two people in distress. The use of two shot’s would also intensify the scene as it creates a build up to a solution. Over-the-should shot:  The use of the Over-the-should Shot at 0:56 helps to heighten the mysterious atmosphere. This is due to the shot zooming into behind the women presenting the dilemma that’s yet to come.

Demographics and Psychographics

1) What information do media companies use to create a demographic profile of their audience?         . Media companies use demographic classification such as social class, gender and age to identify and classify the audience. 2) Why are media companies and advertisers increasingly using audience profiling and not just demographics?       . Advertisers are increasingly using audience profiling as their becoming less interested in social class classification. Media companies also now focus on the kind of brands the audience are interested in. 2) What psychographic groups fit  YOUR  own interests and lifestyle? Explain your decision and remember you may fit into two or three different groups. . I possibly believe i could fit into a variety of psychographic groups. For example, 'The Succeeder' as i tend to set strong goals for myself to better as a person. I also see myself as 'The Aspirer' this is because i like too participate in trends and be up to date on new products.
